Halloween 2016 - Jurassic World!
I love Halloween! I start planning for it, like, in August. And it was Jack's first halloween so I was so excited to do a family costume. I tried to come up with something that was fun, inexpensive, and not embarrassing for my husband.
I had this awesome idea to do Jurassic Park and have Kevin be Owen (Christ Pratt), I'd be Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard), and Jack would be a dinosaur. Owen seemed like it would be simple, but I searched online for well over a month for anything that could work for his iconic leather vest. I couldn't find anything appropriately priced. I could only find real leather vests that were way too expensive for a one-time thing. And I try to avoid sewing as much as I can, so making it wasn't an option... eventually we just went without it. He borrowed the blue shirt from my dad :)
I found a picture of the Jurassic Park badges online, printed them out, and safety pinned them on. Yes, I know that the badges we used were from the original Jurassic Park movies, and weren't accurate with our Jurassic World costumes. But I wanted to be recognized easily, and these badges had more recognition than the ones from the new movie.
My whole outfit, except my shoes, I purchased from a thrift store. Ripped it up a bit, and rubbed dirt and some brown makeup on it (the makeup stuck better than the dirt)
I hate wearing wigs and decided to not get the red Bryce Dallas Howard wig. But that's ok, I made up for it by wearing my heels all night long just like she did in the movie (ok seriously..... who would actually do that..?)
To my surprise, Kevin ordered this dinosaur costume for Jack off Amazon (we got it for $27.72, prices have since changed) A little scarier looking than what I would have chosen... but Jack wasn't bothered by it and I was so happy that Kevin was getting into the Halloween spirit!
