DIY Felt Banner

I almost forked out $25 dollars for something I made for 3 dollars and in 30 minutes. This banner was so easy to make and to be honest I would have made it in a shorter amount of time if I hadn't been watching Mary Poppins with my kid while I was making it (Jack giggled and boogied every time Dick van Dyke sang and danced. I might have been dancing with him too haha)

Anyway, I really don't need to do a tutorial for something so simple like this. But it seriously was so easy and fun so I'll just show ya real quick what I used and the basic steps.

What you'll need:
  • Felt
  • Scissors
  • String
  • Glue Gun (and stick)

Step 1
Decide what size and shape you want your flags. They are going to fold over the string and be glued to its mirrored half. So make sure you cut your flag in a shape where it can be folded over onto itself. Does that make sense? If it doesn't, just look at the picture below. And don't mind the uggo carpet. We are renting :)

Step 2
Decide how much space you want between the flags. (I did 'three fingers' wide, because I can never find a ruler when I need one. But hey, this worked.) Lay the flags out.

Step 3
Lay the string out on top of the flags. Make sure it stays on the middle of each flag so they can fold over the string nicely and line up with its other half.

For steps 4 & 5, do them one flag at a time.
Step 4
Use your hot glue gun to put glue dots on each corner of the flag, and also a little bit on the actual string to keep that in place (so your flags don't slide around)

Step 5
Fold over flag and press hard. Make sure its lined up nicely with its other side.

And there ya go! Super easy and quick. And you saved yourself $20. And they are just so dang cute!
